Today is our last day in Italy, and after 3 weeks with this bunch, we’ve come up with some pretty funny terms and quirks. The term ‘re-wear(ing/er)’ gets thrown around like crazy here. When I went to Mexico in January of 2008, we were advised to pack lightly because we’d be able to do laundry. I figured the same thing would be true for this trip, so I packed as lightly as possible. I wish I would have packed two outfits for each day. I have been one of a few so called ‘re-wears’ on this trip. I hate it. I cannot wait to get home and wear other clothes!
Odd tan lines are also a common thing among the students of SJB Italy. Boys have farmers’ tans for sure. And Melanie and I have very random tan lines from sports bras when running, spaghetti strapped shirts, tank tops and wife beaters.
A few phrases that frequent conversations between ‘the girls’ and ‘the boys’ (Melanie and I and Rico and Barrett) are “So what you’re saying is…” and “Oh realllllly?” And, of course, the popular “That’s what she said.”
There are a few nicknames for the professors as well. LeTourneau has been deemed ‘Tourney’ by Melanie. And as for Mac, I prefer to refer to him as Macaroni.
